Since 2011, the NAFC Education Foundation has supported the creative ideas of New Albany Floyd County Schools educators through Great Classroom Grants. During the 2025-26 school year, the Foundation awarded $104,198.88 through 168 grants, helping bring new learning opportunities to classrooms across the district.
Great Classroom Grants are one of the most direct ways community support reaches students and classrooms. These grants help educators purchase materials, tools, and resources that support learning while also easing the financial burden many teachers often carry on their own.

This year’s grants supported a wide range of classroom needs. Educators used funding for classroom libraries, decodable books, STEM materials, sensory and communication tools, speech and language resources, math and reading intervention materials, music and art supplies, science equipment, culinary tools, and hands-on career and technical education projects.

Across NAFC schools, students read new books, used digital microscopes, practiced CPR skills, explored culinary and interior design concepts, built structures, created art, performed with new music resources, and used hands-on tools to make learning more active and memorable.
Teachers shared that the grants helped students become more engaged, more confident, and more willing to take risks in their learning. Many projects also helped educators better support individual student needs. Sensory tools, flexible seating, movement options, reading resources, and intervention materials gave students more ways to participate, focus, and grow.

Several grants also connected classroom learning to real-world experiences. Biomedical students recorded and analyzed data. Construction students practiced ladder safety and trade skills. Culinary students worked with updated kitchen materials. Art and design students used professional-style tools to create and present their work.
Together, these grants show what is possible when educators have the resources to bring their ideas to life. A single grant can change the way students experience a lesson, a classroom, a subject, or even their own abilities as learners.
The NAFC Education Foundation is grateful to every donor who helped make these projects possible. Because of your generosity, teachers can dream bigger, students can engage more deeply, and classroom ideas can become meaningful learning experiences.
